Midcoast Community Chorus

Yesterday we attended the Midcoast Community Chorus ‘s presentation,  RISE,WALK,SING.  This was one of the most moving concerts I’ve been to.   If anyone is in the midcoast Maine area in June, 2014, when they present their next concert, this is an event not to miss.  The Chorus consists of 140 non-auditioned performers who sing for the joy of it.  The program was professional, the founder and artistic director exuberant, and the music just wonderful.   Proceeds from their June performance will go to a local charity.  Go to their website, mccsings.org for more information and a video of one of the offerings at last year’s concert.

My particular favorites in yesterday’s concert were the opening number, “Rise, Walk, SIng”;  “Lo How a Rose/The Rose”(performed by the choir, a soloist and the MCC children’s choir in an arrangement I had not heard before);  and “Lean on Me”.  They do have CD’s available of their past concerts and yesterday I picked on up and look forward to listening to it. (I have nothing to do with the organization other than being an audience member and this is not an advertisement!)

As recent transplants to this area, we are enjoying  all it has to offer.   Local libraries with educational and entertaining programs weekly;  local musicians giving concerts;  authors with book readings;  all kinds of outdoor activities close by.   Being so close to the ocean is one of the best parts–who could not be soothed just by sitting by the shore and listening?
